Wedding Favour Ideas #2

What are wedding favours?

You may already know but just in case you don’t, wedding favours are little gifts you give to the guests in appreciation for their attending your wedding. These are often placed on the tables at the reception/wedding breakfast. According to the Collins dictionary, a favour is “a token of love, goodwill, etc.” Hence a wedding favour.

Wedding favours can consist of almost anything but they are usually small. Some favours are in a little bag or a box and are something like sweets and/or a little keepsake.

Are wedding favours necessary?

What you give as a wedding favour will depend on your budget if you don’t have the budget then it’s totally fine not to give wedding favours. Wedding favours don’t always make it home with the guest and are therefore wasted. You’re also already providing them with a wonderful meal, drinks and party so they are well taken care of!

Your guests are unlikely to notice the lack of favours and won’t be upset if you don’t provide them.

So, to answer the question “are wedding favours necessary?” – no they’re not, it’s a matter of your preference and your budget.

What should you give as a wedding favour?

The choices are infinite! It could be some sweets, as mentioned above, a little candle, some seeds in a packet, something that matches your wedding theme. For example, if your theme is rustic woodland you could have little chocolates wrapped in string. If your theme is Star Wars you could have little Star Wars lego figures.

If budget is a factor then you could buy the contents and make the favours yourself. Little organza bags or boxes are quite cheap and you and your friends could spend a fun evening putting them together!
