Glen and Rebekah got married at Highley Manor and here’s what they had to say about their “perfect wedding”💖
Overall, how would you describe your experience of your wedding day at Highley Manor?
We had the perfect wedding at Highley Manor and only invited family and close friends. We chose Highly Manor as the location was so beautiful and the size of the venue was perfect for the amount of guests we wanted to invite (50).
The people that worked there could not be more accommodating and always quick to reply to any questions. A big plus was that the venue was dog-friendly so we could bring our husky to our wedding with us.
We chose to get married in April and had the best weather, cool and sunshine. I like cool as I was so nervous about being too hot in my dress, haha, as it was massive with a lot of layers.
Could not have had a better day.
Did you have a particular theme for your wedding?
No specific theme. We chose green and copper for the wedding. All shades of green and it was gorgeous. The copper added the perfect hint of something special. The colour green for one I love, and two, it’s the first colour of spring and signals new plants and flowers … new life. So being cheesy here it was like the beginning of blossoming into married life, haha.
What cake did you have?
My mum made my wedding cake, a 3-tier beauty with sugar flowers and all. All 3 layers were fruit cake, not everyone’s favourite but we love it. For our cake topper, we had custom Funko POP figures made and even got one of the dog for the second tier.
What did the wedding party wear?
I bought my dress second-hand mainly for budget reasons but I couldn’t have been happier with it. I went with my mum and my sister and it was the perfect morning followed by a boozy lunch.
My dress was a big white classic wedding dress with many layers which kept me very hot during the dancing at the reception haha.
I only had my sister as my bridesmaid and she wore a mint green dress from JJ’s House. As she was my only bridesmaid I gave her all the reins for style of dress and accessories – the only thing I chose for her was the colour.
Glen and his groomsman hired their suits and they went for a classic morning suit which I loved as it felt more special than a standard suit and it was nice seeing him all dressed up. He bought his green waistcoat from Amazon as the suit company didn’t have any green waistcoats.
What flowers did you choose?
Our florist was Chirpee Flowers. Absolutely loved them. I know nothing about flowers, so took a lot of advice from them and gave creative control of my bridal bouquet to them and my jaw dropped when I saw it. Couldn’t have been more perfect. They were so lovely.
The theme for flowers was white and green and they even managed to add the copper elements in there. Also got fresh white rose petals for confetti from them and everything felt so dreamy.
Describe the decor
We used Mulberry Events. We went to see them and they have so much available to make the venue just how you want it. Honestly, I was speechless when I saw my reception room all dressed up I was buzzing. I couldn’t recommend them more. So helpful and honest with pricing, no pressure to hire anything more than we needed. We did consider doing it ourselves but Mulberry were so reasonable with their prices it wouldn’t have been much cheaper to do it ourselves and it takes stress away on the day and that is priceless. Also, just the wisteria trees are everything!
Did you use any wedding suppliers?
Elegance Hair & Makeup did everyone’s hair and make up. And she was so lovely and made sure everyone was happy, so happy with her services. We also had a toastmaster who made sure the day ran well and provided entertainment and he was funny. So much fun.
What was the best part of your day?
It’s so hard to pick one part of the day. The whole day was perfect but seeing my husband at the end of the long aisle walk was just amazing.
We got married outside and walking to him in that outdoor setting was just perfect. I was nervous but the moment I saw him I forgot about everyone staring at me and I was just so excited to marry him and everyone just looked so perfect … again thank you so much Mulberry events! The outdoor venue was just perfect!
Are there any improvements that could have been made?
I literally can’t think of anything. Everyone was just so helpful and accommodating, they even looked after the dog while Glen and I were getting ready. And helped my Grandad who wasn’t that stable, they were just so helpful. And the venue was just so perfect with the fireplace and so tidy. Even a year on people mentioned to us how beautiful the venue was.
What advice would you offer to anyone getting married?
If you can afford it trust another party (like Mulberry Events) to decorate the venue it just takes so much stress away.
Remember the day is about celebrating your love with your partner and make sure to add personal touches. We had a Lego post box for cards and custom Nikes made and a doughnut wall.
It’s those touches that reflect you as a couple that will really make the day feel extra special.
Also, being extra organised before the day. I had everything in labelled plastic boxes and printed plans (several copies for the whole set-up party and vendors). This way when the day comes even a stranger could lay it correctly. Really helps keep the stress down.
Also, everyone says it, but just enjoy the day that you have put so much into, relish the happiness and love!
