It might be considered traditional for the bride to wear pretty, high-heels that blend in nicely with the wedding dress. These can range from cream/white satin shoes to pretty strappy sandals. A bride might even like to be like Cinderella with a glass-slipper type shoe!
But whilst this could be considered traditional some brides prefer to wear lower heels to be more comfortable. Shoes/sandals with a lower heel can still look very dainty and pretty with thin heels, crystal embellishments, bows and wrap-around straps.
A totally flat shoe isn’t out of the question either. Again, these can be embellished and made pretty. There are many ballet pump styles these days that would look perfect under your wedding dress.
Some brides are even wearing training shoes or tennis shoes for their wedding, and why not! Training shoes come in many forms with glitter, embellished jewels, net bows and many more.
If you don’t wear heels very often it might be best to stick to a low heel or a flat shoe. The last thing you want on your wedding day is for your feet to be sore! And if you’re not used to walking in heels you don’t really want to trip down the aisle.

The key thing is for you to wear what you want to wear and feel comfortable in. If you’re comfortable in high-heels then go for it!
Shoe Colour
The other factor to consider is the colour of the wedding shoes. Tradition could dictate that these should be white or cream to match the dress. Some brides like to wear a contrasting colour to perhaps match the bridesmaid’s dresses or the groomsmen’s cravats.
One bride we know had red buttons added to the back of her wedding dress; a sprinkling of red sparkles on the front and she wore red high-heel shoes. The groom and the groomsmen wore bright red cravats and cumerbunds – totally distinctive and the shoes looked great!
Blue is another great colour because that can be your “something blue”. Look at this cut shoe with the full rhyme on the bottom!
There are no rules about what wedding shoes you should wear. It’s your wedding – be as creative or traditional as you like!
